Keith Tyler will be returning to the COSSA Range to give us another class in Practical Rifle. If you recall, he was here last year and gave us a course in rifle shooting that all participants found beneficial. One of the things that came out of that session was a need to improve medium and longer range shooting which, in turn, necessitates a return to rifle shooting fundamentals such as shooting positions, breath control, trigger control, sight picture and a few tricks of the trade.
T his course will cover what we need to know for accurate shooting out to around 300 yards with our AR type rifles. We have reserved the 200 yard sight-in range for the day, Sunday - May 4. That range not only gives us the ability to shoot paper targets out to around 250 yards, but it has metal plates hanging from support structures out to 500 yards or so if we start feeling good with our shooting.
The cost for this one day class (9:00 am to 4:00 pm'ish) is $200. There is a minimum number of shooters somewhere around 8 so if you can, get a friend to sign up and bring him/her with you. CPS will be bringing Todd Jarrett to give a beginner/intermediate level training class. The course dates are set for September 26-28, 2008.
This is a 3-day class, with 2 days of instruction (Fri.-Sat., 8:30AM-5:00PM) and a day of shooting a regular CPS USPSA/IPSC match (9:00AM start), with Todd Jarrett going over stage analysis and shooting with students critiquing performance.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn and shoot with one of the best practical shooters in the world. This class will cover all aspects of IPSC/IDPA competitive shooting.
Cost is $500 and students will be required to bring 2000 rounds. This does not include match fee or ammo ($15 and ~150 rounds).
